Test Well Results Look Optimistic for WBYC Water Issue

At the monthly board meeting for the WBYC Water and Sewer District on September 14, the results were presented for the water quality tests on the test wells which were drilled in Worden and Ballantine.

According to Chad Hanson, Billings Municipal Unit Manager and Vice President of Great West Engineering, the wells all have promising flows, and they all have water quality similar to the water which residents of the district have used in the past. Great West Engineering will be working with the WBYC Water and Sewer District to obtain funding for the completion of the project, including an application for a grant through USDA Rural Development.

While residents of the water district may feel that the process to find a new water source is taking a long time, according to Sandy Kust, employee of the water district, it usually takes three to five years to complete a project such as this, and they are hoping to have it completed within close to two years. The board of the water district is optimistic about the progress that continues to be made and hopes that it will move forward quickly.
