Gerald “Rawhide” Bernhardt

Gerald “Rawhide” Bernhardt, of Billings, passed away January 24, 2020. He was born to George and Lydia (Fox) Bernhardt on September 15, 1942.

Gerald attended Billings Senior High School. On 2/28/1964 Gerald married Janice Marie Haugrud, they later divorced.  

“Rawhide” was a welder for the Sugar Company for 26 years and had a reputation for slinging quite a bead. After that he farmed for many years and loved growing things as he kept a garden it seemed, wherever he went. Gerald enjoyed fishing, camping, motorcycles and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his son Christopher Scott Bernhardt and wife Heidi, daughter Shantel Marie Oblander and her husband Rocky, 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Donald. No services are planned per Gerald’s wishes but the family would like to recognize his many friends and acquaintances that stopped in to check on him
