State Board of Canvassers Conducts Random-Sample Audit selection

HELENA, Mont. — This week, the State Board of Canvassers convened at the State Capitol to complete the random-sample audit selection for the 2022 General Election.

Representatives from the Attorney General’s Office, Office of Public Instruction, and State Auditor’s Office randomly selected the races, ballot issue, and precincts to be audited. The State Board of Canvassers took turns rolling dice to randomly determine the selections for the post-election audit.

Montana’s Postelection Audit Act requires manually hand counting the votes of the selected races for comparison with the tabulated results.

“Today’s random selection of races and precincts is a continuation of the quality-control measures found in law,” said Secretary Jacobsen.

A list of the random selections may be found on the Secretary of State’s website. More information on the 2022 General Election post-election audit may also be found on the Secretary of State’s website.
