Obituary: Steven Scott Reinschmidt

Steven Scott Reinschmidt

Steven Scott Reinschmidt, 61, was called home to his heavenly Father November 11, 2018, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Terry, Montana on April 13, 1957, Steve was the loving first-born son of Lyman and Nelda Reinschmidt.  He attended schools in Billings and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1975.

Steve was a loyal member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 400 for over 30 years.  He was employed by Knife River and most recently with COP Construction where he forged many lasting friendships.

He loved time with his family and friends.  Steve’s most cherished times were watching his children, nieces, and nephews play sports and playing games with family and friends.  He was intentional in pursuing relationships and making time for those he loved.  He was happiest when he felt needed, whether it was a teachable moment involving turning wrenches, a tender hand gently guiding us, or a listening ear.  Steve had a knack of pointing out the obvious in humorous and encouraging ways; he was generous, forgiving and ingeniously creative. He was and always will be an indomitable spirit.

Steve is survived by his loving partner Tammy Schwabe, a life-long friendship turned into a loving commitment that was all too brief; mother Nelda; sister Marlice Rohrbach, niece Jessica (Brenton Johnson), nephew Quinn; brother Keven (Lisa) Reinschmidt, niece & nephews Luke, Emmy, and Isaac; sister Candice (Deanna Evans) Reinschmidt; former spouse Cindy Lynn Swecker, son Jeremy (Becky) Mickey, daughter-in-law Theresa Mickey, and grandchildren Ben, Jess, and Sara.  He was preceded in death by son Mac Mickey, father Lyman and past spouse Kelly Ann Lawson.

Steve, thank you for your unwavering compassionate loyalty, gentle guidance and steadfast presence. You will be remembered daily and dearly missed.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 pm at Faith Chapel with reception to follow.  Broadwater entrance at 517 Shiloh Rd.  Interment will be in Terry, Montana at a later date.

Memorials may be made to American Legion Baseball, MSU-B sports or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
