Richard Joseph Miller passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018, age 72. He was born to Harry and Minola (Grammar) Miller on June 26, 1946 at home in Keeline, WY.
Dick was raised on the family ranch with his 9 brothers and 2 sisters before moving to Glenrock, where he excelled in high school football and track. During this time, he met his future wife, Dixie. After graduating Dick enlisted in the Army, serving in 1st Battalion, 321st Artillery, 101st Airborne Division from 1966 to 1968. On February 23, 1968 Dick and Dixie eloped to Colorado.
Dick began working in the oil fields starting in Lynch, WY and then moving to Belle Creek, MT to work for the Gary Energy Company. During this time Dick and Dixie raised their two sons and were active members of the Belle Creek and Broadus communities. Dick especially enjoyed raising cattle, roping, and coaching youth sports.
In 1986, the family relocated to Worden, where Dick was a consultant engineer and later employed as the WBYC water district manager. Dick and Dixie were also the proud owners of the Miller’s Dark Horse Saloon and were avid supporters of the Huntley Project Red Devils and community.
Dick lost his loving wife in September 2013 and we find great comfort that they are reunited. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy, and sons, Shane (Stephanie) and Shawn (Teal); grandchildren, Courtney, Dorothy, Kullen, Shiane, and Louden; and great-grandson, Luke.
A memorial service is planned for both Dick and Dixie at 3:00 on November 3, 2018 at the Worden VFW Hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared with the family at smithfuneralchapels.com
