Obituary: Leonard James (Lenny) Slaughter

Leonard James (Lenny) Slaughter ended his journey here peacefully on July 20 with step-daughter Rita, step-son-in-law Randy, Arwen, and special friend Terri by his side.  Lenny was born in Centropolis, Missouri on May 22, 1923.  He was a United States Navy veteran, a lifelong antique collector and seller, and he loved helping others.  In his last year going to church was the highlight of his week.  Lenny lived a large part of his life in Minneapolis, MN and Denver, CO, moving to Billings in 2017.

Lenny was preceded in death by his father Leonard H., mother Edna, brother Marvin, 1st wife Mary, and 2ndwife Wilma.  He is survived by special step-daughter Rita (Randy) Frasure of Billings, MT and estranged children Linda Faye Howard of St. Paul, MN, and Mickey Slaughter of Minneapolis, MN.

Special thanks go to Terri McGiver who befriended Lenny, visited him often, and brought him 3 Musketeers and Milky Way candy bars; TenderNest Assisted Living staff with special thanks to Karmen, Lydia, and McKenzie who took such good care of Lenny and made House 3 a home; Father Steve and parishioners at St. Thomas the Apostle church who treated us so kindly and made us feel welcome; and Stillwater Hospice of Montana for their care.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday August 3, at TenderNest Assisted Living, 4040 Parkhill Drive.  Burial will be in Denver, CO.
