Kathy Jones
On their 39th anniversary, March 8, 2019, with her devoted husband by her side, Kathy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy was born on June 1, 1951, in Crookston, MN, to Jerome and Bonna Stroot. After proudly graduating nursing school in 1971, Kathy started her lifelong career as a caring, compassionate, hardworking LPN, retiring in January 2017, after 39 years with St. Vincent Hospital and St. Vincent Internal Medicine. She touched many lives and made lifelong friends through her work.
She married the love of her life and best friend, Jimmy Jones, March 8, 1980. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Vegas, Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, Minnesota, their cruise, and especially enjoyed camping with their bird, Bizy, and family.
She was an accomplished embroiderer and many friends and family will treasure her gifts of beautiful dish towels. Kathy was a big Betty Boop fan and her homemade caramel corn was always in demand!
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy; and their bird, Bizy; three sisters; three brothers; one half-brothers; many family members, both hers and Jimmy’s; special friends Leann and Mary Lou; and, as Kathy said, too many nieces and nephews to count! But Kathy remembered all family and friends’ birthdays with hand-picked special cards every year. She made everyone she met — friends, family, patients — feel special with her kind and generous heart.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Cobb and staff at Frontier Cancer Center for their wonderful care and support this past year, and Paula and the RiverStone Hospice team this past month. In lieu of flowers, please donate to RiverStone Hospice or your favorite charity.
Kathy, loving wife, sister, sister-in-law, favorite aunt and friend, you fought hard and we are proud of you. Our lives are made better for having had you in them, and we will always love and miss you. YES DEAR!
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with luncheon immediately following at Sunset Bowling Lanes, downstairs reception room.
