Obituary: John R. Cellan Sr.

John R. Cellan Sr.

The Lord called John home on September 16, 2021. He was 69 years old. John loved the Lord and had strong faith.  He was born March 24, 1952, in Billings to Elsie Martin and James Cellan. With both of his parents passing away at an early age John was raised by his aunts and uncles. This made him very independent, and he started on his own at an early age.

He married the love of his life Jeanne Rogers on June 12, 1970, they had three children. Early in their marriage he managed two different Bairs Truck Stops moving them to Shelby, MT and then Hardin, MT. After leaving Bairs John worked as a truck driver and diesel mechanic before becoming a partner in the feed business. He continued his career in the feed business for the next 18 years. He retired in 2004, then worked odd jobs and restored vehicles before he became fully retired in 2013.

Outside of working he had a love for music and horses. John played guitar and sang with different bands. Throughout the years of playing music, he was able to create amazing friendships, some from childhood. The last couple years before his passing he was able to jam a couple days a week with three of his friends. John cherished these times.  For a few years John raised horses and loved taking pack trips to the mountains.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a true friend to many. He was always there to help and lend a hand to those in need. He is survived by his wife (Jeanne) of 51 years, daughter (Amanda), son-in-law (Steve Cook), grandchildren (Alex and Autumn Cook), brother (Vic Daubert), sister (Terri Wendt), and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He is proceeded in death by his sons (Johnny and Travis), and his sister (Pam Seerup).
