Janae Elaine Chenoweth

Janae Elaine Chenoweth, 52, passed away peacefully at the Yellowstone River Nursing Home on July 3, 2024. Janae had suffered from congestive heart failure for many years.

She was born to Darrell and Bonnie (Foggin) Chenoweth on May 29, 1972, in South Carolina Naval Hospital. Janae was the oldest of four children.

Janae attended and graduated from Shepherd High School. After high school she attended one year at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) before serving an 18-month mission for the LDS Church in Roseville, California.

On August 22, 2003, Janae married Pedro Salazar. This union welcomed five daughters. She loved her baby girls and was proud of their accomplishments. Janae and Pedro were divorced years later.

Through the years Janae worked at different jobs, but mostly as a night auditor and front desk clerk for motels in Billings. Her last job before going to the nursing home was selling roses.

She loved playing card games and bingo with friends and family, usually winning. She loved to keep memories by scrapbooking. Janae was very thoughtful and always remembered important dates and sending cards was her favorite way to show her love. Janae enjoyed playing her clarinet through school and later playing in the Billings Symphony.

Though Janae had many health problems, she loved visitors and had a laugh to remember.

Janae is preceded in death by all her grandparents, her father Darrell Eugene Chenoweth, sister Dara Leigh Belue, and nephew John Darrell Belue.

Surviving family members include her five daughters Laryssa Chenoweth, twins Amandea and Makayla, Alisia and Emaleigh Salazar, mother Bonnie Chenoweth, sister Beth Ann Cook (Mick) and their children, Rick (Meredith), Ryan, Nathan, twins Cheyenne (Wyatt) and Sierra, Andrew and Dara, brother Jared Eugene Chenoweth (Michelle) and their children Keegan and Olivia.

Graveside services will be on July 13th at the Shepherd Community Cemetery at 5 pm. All are invited to a reception in her honor at the Shepherd Community Center immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

We, as a family, would like to thank the nurses, CNAs’ and staff at Yellowstone River Nursing Home and Stillwater Hospice for their loving care of our mother, daughter and sister.
