Obituary: Helen Hoerner Geck

Helen Hoerner Geck passed away peacefully on January 9, 2022, surrounded by her family.  Helen was born on the family farm in a stone house on March 25, 1938, to Valentine and Monica Hoerner, in Glen Ullin, ND.  She attended a one-room schoolhouse until 8th grade and graduated from Glen Ullin High School.

Helen taught school, worked at the Bank of Glen Ullin, and lived on the family farm in North Dakota until she married Richard Geck on Sept 2, 1958.  From this union two sons were born, Dan and Darrin.   They traveled to many different locations with road construction and made many good friends along the way.  In 1982, they moved to the family farm in Pompeys Pillar, MT.

Helen was a fabulous baker, cook and homemaker.  She enjoyed playing pinochle and board games with family and friends.  Helen attended many of her grandchildren’s events as they were the light of her life.

Helen is survived by her husband, Richard of Pompeys Pillar, MT; sons Dan (Chris) of Worden, MT and Darrin (Karen), of Huntley, MT; grandchildren Nicole (Nick) of Jamestown, ND, BrieAnna (Joe) of Polson, MT, Chad (Morgan) of Billings, MT, Courtney and Brandon (who shares his birthday with Helen) of Huntley, MT; great- grandchildren, Reagan and Eli; brother Jerome (Joan) Hoerner of Glen Ullin, ND; sisters, Patricia (Larry) Fulton of Cheyenne, WY, and Linda (Jim) Erhardt of Almont, ND; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, brother Dale, and sisters Clara and Gladys.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life and burial will be planned for this spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Worden Ambulance Service or the Glen Ullin Ambulance Service.  Mom, we love you and will miss you daily.  Thank you for your words of wisdom along the way.  The family wishes to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time.
