Gottlieb Henry Dalke, Jr.

Gottlieb Henry Dalke, Jr., 93 of Shepherd, passed on November 13, 2020. He was born November 19, 1926, in Fallon, MT to Gottlieb Henry Dalke Sr. and Emile (Quade) Dalke. He was the oldest of the boys with four other brothers and six sisters. 

He married Leoda Black on May 14, 1954 in Billings. They moved to Shepherd in the early 60s where they raised their six children. Darlene (Don) Treweek of Kalispell, Dennis (Debbie) of Shepherd, Diane Dalke (deceased), Donna (Denis) Best of Shepherd, Dean (Una) of Shepherd and Dale of Billings. 

In his early years, Gottlieb worked for a few farmers, the Huntley Experiment Station, the railroad in Laurel, the sugar beet factory in Billings, and Barry O’Leary Construction.  After retiring from 30 plus years working on the loading dock at Pierce Packing, he continued to raise beef and pigs at this place for many years.   

He spent his last several years in assisted living at Eagle Cliffs. His family would like to thank the staff of River Ridge Assisted Living and Stillwater Hospice for the care and kindness they gave to Gottlieb. 

Gottlieb was preceded in death by his wife, Leoda (2008); one daughter (2010); parents; and siblings, Adolph, Henry, William, Rosalie, Eva, Amelia and Katherina. 

He is survived by five of his children; siblings, Lydia Rivas of Williston, FL., Mary Skalsky of Billings and Don of Shepherd; and many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 4-6 PM at Smith Funeral Chapel – Downtown, 925 S. 27th Street Billings, MT. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 12:30 PM at Bridger Cemetery.
