Obituary: Gordon Marcher

Gordon Marcher

Gordon Marcher, 59, of Billings, formerly of Worden, MT, died peacefully after a long battle with throat cancer. Gordon was born in Billings, MT on March 10th, 1965 to Clarence and Arleda Marcher of Billings, MT, where he grew up as the middle child of 3 children.  Gordon attended Huntley Project Schools in Worden, MT and participated in and excelled in sports during this time. He helped lead the school to many victories, including State Champions in Track and Varsity Basketball. His sisters enjoyed watching him participate in sports. They developed a close bond early in life that existed until and forevermore upon his passing.

After graduating in 1983, Gordon attended Eastern Montana College.  After attending EMC for one year, he decided to join the U.S. Navy for a 4 year tour.

Gordon found joy in jobs where he could use his talents and skill as a master-craftsman. He opened GM Construction & Roofing business and stepped into a niche he became extremely fond of and good at.  After covid took a toll on small businesses, he went to work for John’s Home and Yard landscaping business.  A job he loved while working with people he cared for and admired.

Gordon loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, a love that started at an early age with his family. His siblings felt he “showed them at an early age of 4 who the best fisherman in the family was going to be by catching the biggest fish and holding onto that record.  Gordon’s love of fishing, his love of the outdoors and Montana, was something he looked forward to experiencing as often as possible.

Gordon was very compassionate and understanding, and would lend a helping hand when needed and never expect anything in return. He had a contagious laugh and a very kind heart. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Parts of those who knew and loved him left with him the day he journeyed Home.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Arleda Marcher of Worden, MT and Clarence Marcher of Billings, MT.

He is survived by his daughter Trinity (Tucker) Maxwell, his son Daniel Chapel, his son Austin Marcher of Billings, MT.  Also, his son Eric, and daughters Ella, Kyra, and Meia all of Conroe, TX.  He is survived also by his sister Debbie (Jesse) Castro of Chandler, AZ and their sons Kevin and Ryan.  His sister Cindy (Ken) McNeill of Fromberg, MT and their children Erica, Felicia, CJ and Dakota.
