Erma M. Bacon

Erma M. Bacon, 88, of Huntley, Montana, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021. She was born on December 5, 1932, the only child of Walter & Alberta Laverdure of Lewistown, Montana, where she grew up and attended various schools in the Lewistown area. She graduated from St. Leo’s Catholic High School in 1951.

On February 17, 1953, Erma was united in marriage to Loren R. Bacon of Heath, Montana, and shortly afterwards made their home in Lewistown where they raised seven children. In 2005 Erma and Loren moved to Billings, Montana and in 2007 they fully retired to Huntley, Montana, in 2009.  Erma’s husband passed away in 2011.

Erma leaves behind 7 children: Laura Bacon of Lewistown, Roger Bacon of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Mark Bacon of Los Angeles, CA, Melissa Bacon of Baldwin WI, Ross Bacon of Houston, TX, Mitchell Bacon of Billings, MT & Rebecca Dahl of Absarokee, MT, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Erma had a passion for gardening and a true gift of growing wonderful flowers.  She also was an avid hiker, loved going to the hills surrounding Lewistown and spending the day hiking and taking in the sights of nature. When she moved to Billings, and then Huntley she would hike the Rimrocks, Pompey’s Pillar & Pictograph State Park. She also enjoyed visiting family in various states over the years.

It is with that love of flowers and nature that Erma had asked for memorials to be made to the Nature Conservancy or any other wildlife or nature charity. Private services will be held with the family at a later date. Dahl Funeral Home of Billings oversaw cremation.
