Obituary: Burton Ray Gigoux

Burton Ray Gigoux (Burt)

A Marine who stood tall helping Veterans, Burton Ray Gigoux (Burt), 75, went to meet his Lord and Savior on December 23, 2023, from complications of cancer. He was born in Oakland, California, to Ray Gigoux and Delta Coop.

After graduation from Armarillo High School, he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, he found the love of his life, besides the Marines, and met and married Anita Moore in New Orleans, LA.  She was his lifelong partner in all of his veteran endeavors. In 1972, Burt took Anita up north to Billings, MT, to start a new adventure. They were blessed with their son, David, in Billings. Burt was the owner of Communication Services.  Burt retired to spend more of his time helping Veterans, and he had a dream of having a National Veterans’ Cemetery in Yellowstone County. His dream came true in 2014!  His hard work paid off. He also served as a volunteer on nine Big Sky Honor Flights. Before Burt left Billings in 2016, he had already played taps for over 550 veterans’ services.  Burt will always be known for his continued support for Veterans and their causes. We will miss his dedication to the men and women who served for our freedom.

Come out to the Yellowstone National Cemetery on Friday, May 17, 2024, to pay your respects to a truly inspirational Veteran!  Services are at 12 noon.

” Semper Fi”, my good friend. May God hold you in the palm of his hand…. ‘til we meet again.
