Billings-based Meadow Lark Transport Inc., a trucking company that has done business in Billings for forty years, has closed.
The company released a statement, “We share the sad news of Meadow Lark’s closure with a heavy heart. We have formed many lasting partnerships and friendships since delivering transportation services across the nation for 40 years. Due to unforeseen events in 2022-2023, which included banking and funding issues, cyber and identity theft, higher costs with lower rates, and last-minute insurance issues, the 2023 economy was not sustainable for a medium-sized company. Meadow Lark would like to express our deep gratitude to all those who have stuck with us and supported us until the end.”
Located at 2913 Millenium Circle, the company was started in 1983 by Rick and Donna Jones. The business grew to 40 terminals nationwide and $200 million in revenue, according to the company’s website.
They sold the company to their daughter, Amanda Roth in 2011, and she remains the CEO. According to the company’s website they had 273 employees.
According to other news reports, Meadow Lark listed for sale its 20,275-square-foot corporate headquarters on Sept. 23 for $3.38 million.
