During their 25th straight season attending Montana’s State B Volleyball Tournament, Huntley Project managed to take home their 16th championship title in Head Coach Iona Stookey’s tenure. The team entered the tournament as something of an underdog according to Stookey, with the team placing third at divisionals. According to 2025 All-State Selected Setter Gracie Norman, the team buckled down and focused on doing their part.
During their match against Baker, who had defeated HP in five of the six of their head-to-head matches,
Norman says the team just clicked together. Stookey told the team that the match would be coming down to who made the least mistakes. With the goal of ending Baker’s undefeated streak HP was able to eek out a win with scores of 22-25, 25-18, 28-26, 7-25, 15-12. HP Senior Middle Blocker Maddison Akins said about the win, “I think we were just tired of losing, so we pulled out all the stops and moved a few people around to try something new. Thank you to the community for your support and coming to games when you could.” Akins was also recognized as the Most-Valuable-Player by the Montana Highschool Association for the Class B State Volleyball Tournament.
