“Homesteader Days this year is set to be at full capacity and back to normal with regular activities as before,” says Event Coordinator Bethany Hein. Last year’s traditional Homesteader Days were limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, but that didn’t stop the Huntley Project Lions Club from moving forward with their traditional annual event.
The Huntley Project Lions Club annual event last year was one of the first groups to charge forward with their annual event despite the Covid-19 shutdown fears for large events in the state. Some adjustments had to be considered in order to pull off the event last year that included sanitary measures and social distancing to continue the long-standing annual event.
This year, however, some things will carry over because of feedback that was received. “We kept some amenities like wash stations and sanitary measures,” says Hein but the normal activities are back is full swing including greased pig wrestling on Saturday, and “we’re going to be open to hopefully fill our max capacity at 3,500” for the Friday Night Concert Friday, July 9th headlining Shenandoah @ 8pm and with Little Texas Band getting on the stage at 6:30pm. Finishing off the concert night will be our longstanding local Bucky Beaver Ground Grippers at Homesteader Park in Huntley, near the Huntley Project Museum.
Those still looking for tickets for the Friday, July 9th Concert can get them online at www.hplionsclub.org, for $40 or at the gate for $45. July 5th through July 8th will have tickets available only at Shipton’s Big R in Billings, Project Merc in Worden and R&R Trading in Huntley. Otherwise, tickets will have to be bought at the gate on the day of the concert.
Regular events for traditional Homesteader Days on Saturday July 10th will include a Parade at 11am with “Country Crazy” as this year’s theme. Fun on the Farm, Bingo, and Kids’ Carnival rides and games will also be available during the Saturday events. The Homesteader Run will kick off Saturday morning at 8:15am at Homesteader Park. Proceeds from the Homesteader Days annual event go back into the community.
The Color Guard is back again with a paraglider flying the US flag during the National Anthem. “We hope to have a fireworks show, but that is subject to change due to fire conditions,” Hein says. However, with regards to kicking off this year’s Homesteader Days, “The lineup for Friday night’s concert is going to be awesome,” she says.
