Getting repairs? Get it in writing!

Dear Editor,

After a disastrous two weeks of wind, rain, and hail, many people had to buck it up: clean up; fix up; and face money hungry companies out there to hit and run with poor-quality work.

I’ve already experienced one local tree company which doubled the charge by promising that insurance would pay full cost of any job. Don’t believe it ahead of time. Insurance knows what is normal; you have to pay the difference! Have a written contract; walk over the plan before you sign; don’t prepay so you get the job done right and make sure a clean-up plan is included and they complete it. Beware of excuses, delays, and no receipts of final payments.
