Fuego Fire expanding services

The Fuego Fire Service Area, north of Billings, is in the process of expanding its services to provide fire protection to resident and business structures, as well as wildland fires. It was initially established as only a wildland fire protection service.

A public hearing to allow County Commissioners to consider the proposal has been set for Thursday, December 12, 9:30 am in Room 3108 of the Stillwater Building.

The proposal includes the rate of assessment on property to pay for the fire protection services and for a fire station. The building will house fire equipment and serve as a training base for volunteer firefighters.

The board of the Fuego Fire Service Area has decided to accept the offer of Intermountain Equestrian Center of 1.5 acres upon which to build a fire station. The department had two donations of land offered, with another from Jack Ramirez for property off Highway 3 and Shorey Road.
