Face Facts, Biden Won

Dear Editor,

I have always been an independent voter and have a basic respect for the views of each side of the spectrum. The extremes of either side are wing nuts. In the United States, we have our left-wing nuts and our right-wing nuts, and I try not to avoid the nuts. I am, however, remiss if I do not point out the inappropriate, and nutty flavored bias Yellowstone County News has held with respect to the 2020 presidential election.

Let’s just go back to the 2016 election issue, where YCN immediately acknowledged that Donald Trump, and I quote, “easily won.” Which he did indeed. While, clearly, in 2020 there were accusations of voter fraud, it has yet to be proven in a court of law. Over 50 individual lawsuits around the country, many of which came before Trump-appointed or GOP judges, have been thrown out.

I enjoyed the lengthy, and frankly well-written, article outlining the contention of this election, but where is the follow-up? At what point is this, generally fine and upstanding news organization going to announce that Biden won? I mean, come on, he’s being sworn in this week.

You’ve missed the boat, and it reeks of personal bias, which is absolutely not what news is supposed to be. That’s the whole premise of the problem with the current state of the news business! That’s why I like Yellowstone County News. This kind of thing is not your schtick! Get it together people. If you’re upset your guy didn’t win, you still have a responsibility to report things as they are. Don’t go stuff your head up your rear and pretend it’s not what it is.

Biden won popular vote, and the electoral college vote count was exactly the same as Trump’s landslide in 2016. Call it what is it, a landslide. Like it or not, guess some of us need to wake up and smell the change that’s arrived.
