Did They Ask Us About Gavilon Grain Elevator?

Dear Editor,

I guess I must have missed it in the Yellowstone County News, or on the Yellowstone County website, or through any of our elected officials.  When exactly did the Yellowstone County Commissioners put out notice, to the citizens of Huntley, and surrounding towns, information on this huge, multi-million-dollar Gavilon Grain Elevator project?

Grain elevators don’t get filled by themselves.  They often require many, many, many large trucks, traveling on roads that were first laid down circa 1907.  When these roads become worn and broken, will Gavilon step forward and offer to repair the roads?  If you believe that, then you believe in the Easter Bunny.

In your paper you wrote, Gavilon’s Manager, Patrick Burke is quoted, “It shouldn’t cause any traffic issues.   We’re focusing on making the entire process insanely efficient and quick.”  As a taxpayer and Huntley resident, I’d like to know more of this “process.”  And, the construction should be halted until the local residents see what has been going on “under the table.”
