County Commissioners Issue RFP for Private Management — Again

After several discussion meetings over the past couple of weeks regarding the specifics and legalities of what they want to see in proposals for the private management of MetraPark, county commissioners voted 2-1 on a request for proposals (RFP).

The action on Tuesday was the second time the commissioners issued an RFP for private management of MetraPark. One was issued in the spring which the commissioners cancelled in June, when they could not agree on the next step in the process.

On Tuesday, Commissioner John Ostlund voted against issuing the RFP after first moving to do a study that would compare the differences between private management and government management of the county-owned facility. It is the study, he said, that he first requested and that the commissioners said they would do, but instead engaged Venue Solutions Group to analyze how MetraPark is currently being managed. It was not a comparison of private vs. public management, which was promised, said Ostlund.

ments of this RFP as determined by the County from the total information submitted.”

The RFP directs that any questions or clarifications be directed solely via email to James Matteson, the county’s purchasing agent. Any discussions with other Yellowstone County personnel is prohibited.
