Community Involvement is the Solution

Dear Editor,

With all the ranting and raving by so many factions, especially the younger generation about how “oppressed” and “unfair” our system has become living here in the United States of America, which the main stream media almost nightly perpetuates and provides them a platform to vent, which somehow, someway, validates that it is fact, is making it worse!!

Just yesterday on television was a segment regarding living conditions of the people remaining in Ukraine.  At our Optimist Club meeting last week we had a guest speaker talking about the living conditions in some African countries.  Everyone is well aware of the “slave camps” in China or North Korea.  People need to sit back and think how fortunate they are in the USA.

My opinion, with a HIGH degree of FACT, just being born in the United States, provides the freedom to make something of yourself and live a fulfilling life.  My opinion, with another HIGH degree of FACT, just being born without a disability or abnormality, or serious health problems at birth, again provides the freedom to make something of themselves to live a fulfilling life!

Certainly, challenges in life are everywhere, young, middle-aged or old.  Being born without two loving parents setting an example, demanding discipline, etc., is unfortunate and challenging as one has to learn to deal with it at a very young age.  But that does not “sentence” you for a miserable life of crime or unhappiness or despair.

The riots, the burglaries, the gun shooting, etc., are NOT a solution to one’s problems.  Hanging around like-minded individuals who just want to commiserate with you with the “me too” factor as being oppressed and creating gangs to do harm to others, will not make one happy.

My bottom line concern is this.  A) Government is NOT the solution!  B)  If we don’t help when and where we can as a good neighbor (everyone – everyone has a neighbor), or C) if we, whoever “we” are, don’t get involved in a community service of your choice, whether focused on the disabled, the youth, the homeless, the elderly, etc., the Hate, the Violence the Rage will be coming to your neighborhood soon.

One last point:  The Government is now going to add another 87,000 IRS agents to get prey on the crooked who cheat on their taxes in order to collect more taxes for more programs.  I personally do not believe that our IRS, DOJ and many others are Virtuous!  Nor do I believe that the more money they distribute is truly ending up where intended.  Skeptical?  Yes.  Oppressed?  No!
