Novasio Worries Schools May Shut Down

Lockwood School is going to remain “Yellow” for the time being, in terms of the level of COVID protocols they will follow. The Lockwood School board made the decision following a status report by Superintendent Tobin Novasio at their meeting Tuesday evening. They had hoped that the “metrics” would be good enough to allow the school to move into the more lax “green” level, by this time.

Of the three levels possible – Green, Yellow, and Red — Novasio sounded pessimistic about how quickly they could move to the Green level, but in order to re-evaluate the situation as soon as possible, the Lockwood School Board agreed to meet again on September 29.

Explaining  that three metrics, of those that are used to identify each level, would have to change in order to shift a level – either up or down – Novasio said that the metrics are trending negative at the moment, and he wouldn’t be surprised if the schools are shut down in Yellowstone County. He said he had some hope that with the measures that Lockwood has taken they would not have to close. Lockwood is the only large school in the county that has not had a positive case of the virus.
