Obituary: Louise Wilson Bischke

Louise Wilson Bischke

Louise Wilson Bischke, age 93, passed away peacefully in her home October 11th, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Louise was born on November 26th, 1925 in Shepherd MT to William and Johanna Vanderhage. She attended Shepherd High School. In her junior year her family moved to Sumas, Washington and she graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1944. In 1945 Louise returned to Montana and married Gordon Wilson, her high school sweetheart, who she would save a seat for every morning on the school bus.

Gordon and Louise farmed in the Shepherd area and that is where they raised their seven children. Douglas (Bonnie) Wilson, Kathleen Kastelitz, Jane (Jim) Pruitt, Brenda (Matt) Schlutt, Kim (Les) Theurer, and Jody Goddard. Son Brian Wilson passed away in 1977.

After 42 years of marriage Gordon passed away in 1987. In 1990 Louise married Ruben Bischke. Ruben passed away in 2003.

Louise enjoyed her community. She was a lifetime member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Pineview Home Demonstration Club. She belonged to the Shepherd Senior Citizens Center and for as long as she could made quilts with the Pineview ladies quilting group.

Mom had a strong love and commitment to her family and extended family. She created a peaceful and loving home for her children. She loved gardening and especially flowers. Together, she and Ruben created beautiful flower beds and a great vegetable garden. Mom was always ready to travel. Dad used to joke “just mention a place and she would have her purse and car keys in her hand”. Her most memorable visits were to her relatives in the Netherlands.

Mom had a strong Christian faith. She believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She passed her faith onto her children, as she made sure we were all baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shepherd. In her heart she believed she would be meeting her loved ones that preceded her in death, in heaven.

Mom we love and will miss you.

Louise is preceded in death by her husband’s Gordon and Ruben, son Brian, sister Nell and brother in law Ray Kinghorn, brother John and sister in law Esther Vanderhage and brother Clarence (Mary) Vanderhage.

Louise is survived by her children, sister Janice (Bob) VanDiest, grandchildren Michelle (Jerry) Dillon, Jeff (Kelly) Wilson, Rod (Jalene) Kastelitz, Angela Polen, Jessica Pruitt, Jillian (Luke) Urick, Eric (Kristy) Schlutt, Valarie Schlutt, Shelby (Dalton) Vance, Cody Theurer, Callie Theurer and Jeremy Goddard 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shepherd, MT on October 16th at 11:00 AM . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Compassus Hospice.
