Obituary: Elmer Kembel

Elmer was born to parents Clarence and Lydia Fox Kembel on June 16th, 1937. He grew up on his parents’ dairy farm. He attended grade school and then Lincoln Junior High.

On Feb. 12th, 1955, he was united in marriage to Elsie J. Huvaere. They lived in the Shepherd area where they had a small dairy farm.

They had two children, Connie and Brad. In January of 1965 they moved to Huntley Project where they purchased a large dairy farm. They were in the dairy business for quite a few years. Later they decided to sell the dairy herd. They started raising sugar beets, silage, corn, and hay. Later they started raising malt barley for Coors.

Elmer and Elsie enjoyed fishing and boating and Elmer liked to water ski. He was a league bowler for many years. He served on the Huntley Project Irrigation Board for 30 years.

Elmer passed away at Butterfly Homes in the Billings Heights. He was 82 years old. Elmer had been a resident at Butterfly Homes since early March 2019.

He is survived by his wife Elsie, his daughter Connie Rieman, and his son Brad Kembel. He is also survived by his brother Bob of Shepherd, three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law from Billings.

Cremation has taken place.
