Meanderings – Best of Yellowstone County Editor’s Choice Award, Sam Bruner,

Well, Folks, we are running a little late this year in announcing the winners of our Best of Yellowstone County Awards and feature the best professionals out there in our communities and industries.

Not only is it important to recognize all the winners this year but also the industry professionals that have won it this year. It must say something about the job they are doing in the community, for their clients and/or customers in the local Yellowstone County area. There are a number of businesses that have won the Best of Yellowstone County Award five or more years in a row. Do you know who they are?

As for the Editor’s Choice Award this year, I’ve chosen Sam Bruner, Huntley Project’s High School Principal, as this year’s Best of Yellowstone County Awards recipient. I’ve been to a lot of schools over the years and what he does stands out in a good way.

There are a lot of reasons for awarding Sam this Editor’s Choice Award.

I’ve sat back for years and observed Sam in action as he participates in the community, school while also making time for his family and kids. I’ve watched Sam in action as a leader in so many different ways over the years that I’m in awe and admiration what he brings to the community and school. For example, after YCN Sports broadcasts at Huntley Project after games, I see Sam helping out with cleanup and making sure the gym is clean after everyone goes home for the night. I also see Sam taking time out of his schedule to help play the trumpet in the Huntley Project Pep band as they need trumpet players for the band. I’ve seen him travel to out of town games just to be present and make sure everyone is safe. I’ve seen Sam mentor students and help them become young adults in society. I see him stay strong when it’s needed yet provide support and encouragement to students in a way that prepares them for life after high school.

As a veteran, Sam has served our country. He’s not one to boast of his successes or achievements but humble enough to accept any job, duty or assignment. A leader that leads by example yet also knows how to follow in being a good team player. It seems he’s not one to ask others to do a job he is not willing to do himself. I’ve seen others follow his example and quiet leadership to get things done and as a veteran, he helps out with other outside veterans organizations like Veterans Meat Locker and other veteran activities in the community.

I could go on and on about what I’ve observed Sam doing. I’m sure there is so much more he does for his family, our country, church and community that I don’t even know about, but I’m sure he does a whole lot more than what the eye can see.

As for that and so much more, I’m sure the Huntley Project community would join me in congratulating and recognizing Sam Bruner as this year’s 2024 Editor’s Choice Award Recipient for the Best of Yellowstone County Awards.

Thank you, Sam, for your leadership, your example, support of those you lead, your service (to our country, community and school family) along with your upbeat positive and outgoing personality in the community. It’s contagious.

It’s people like Sam Bruner that demonstrate great leadership abilities in our community and for this is recognized as this year’s 2024 Editor Choice Award recipient of the Best of Yellowstone County Awards.
