Obituary: Darrell Eugene Chenoweth

Darrell Eugene Chenoweth, “Mr. Hotsy”, passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, 2023, in the family home.  Darrell was born May 6, 1948, in Worland, WY, to Loren and Eunice Chenoweth.  After high school Darrell served on the USS Daniel Boone submarine for five and a half years. While during his service in the Navy, he met his wife Bonnie, and they were married and sealed on May 9. 1970, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada.  Darrell and Bonnie started their Hotsy business in Rigby, ID, in 1974, continued on to Worland, WY, then to Billings MT, in 1978.  He was a great salesman.  His friends and family always joked he could sell ice to an Eskimo.  His Hotsy legacy has been continued by his children BethAnn and Jared.  Darrell settled his family in Shepherd in 1978 and resided there until his death.

Darrell’s greatest joys were sitting on the bleachers watching his children and grandchildren participate in their activities.  He also loved holding his babies.  He never would pass up the chance to hold them (any babies).  Darrell’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, woodworking and mowing his yard.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents Loren and Eunice Chenoweth, brother George Chenoweth, brother-in-law Randy White, sister- in-law Linda Chenoweth, daughter Dara Leigh Belue, grandson John Darrell Belue, and great granddaughter Madison Cook.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Bonnie, children Janae Chenoweth, BethAnn (Mick) Cook, Jared (Michelle) Chenoweth, 16 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brothers Merlin and Steve Chenoweth, sister Lurean White and nieces and nephews.

His funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 912 Wicks Lane, Billings, MT, on Oct. 28, 2023.  Viewing will be at 10am and the service will be at 11am.  Following will be the graveside service at the Shepherd Cemetery.  Immediately after the graveside service will be a lunch at the Wicks Lane Chapel for all family and friends.
