Dear Editor:
Once again, Senate District 22 incumbent Doug Kary showed no backbone when he left the 2017 Montana legislative session without balancing the state budget. This breaks Montana constitutional law. When balancing the state budget came to a floor vote, he voted against! Kary is a fake fiscal conservative; and upon further review of his voting record it seems he’s given up any pretense of caring about budget deficits and the taxpayers.
As Doug seeks his reelection, Kary claims to be a fiscal conservative watching out for the taxpayers’ money. His voting record shows this isn’t true and that he’s fine with burdening future generations with crippling debt. He’s on the wrong side of multiple issues which include public schools, healthcare, open lands, dark and corporate PAC money and tax breaks for special interests and ultra-wealthy. His false claim of fiscal responsibility is a smokescreen to distract from that fact. He’s hoping we fall for the con job. Voters aren’t that stupid. There is another choice. Jennifer Merecki has been a strong advocate of long-range planning to ensure that our schools, our police and fire, our roads and highways, all of our state services, have the resources they need to do the job the public expects of them. Merecki has years of experience balancing million dollar budgets without putting undue burden on the taxpayers. We need Jennifer in Helena to ensure our tax dollars are appropriated responsibly. Look for her name on the ballot. Vote with your conscience. vote Merecki.
