Ramblings’, Krayton Kerns, bids Farewell to YCN

With regret and relief, I am closing this chapter of my life.  I published my first column on March 1st, 2006 and since then I have penned over 675 op-eds plus published three books.  Were the spirit to grab me, I have enough material to publish volumes IV and V, but those works may remain my unfinished symphony.  After great deliberation, I have decided between my veterinary practice, ranch duties, family responsibilities and the pressure of writing a weekly column, I have entirely too much on my plate.  It is time to sunset Ramblings of a Conservative Cow Doctor.

It has been a great run and my column opened the door to many speaking opportunities throughout the west.   The trophy wife and I have met great people who hold the same values as do we and the internet has allowed me to interact with friends I have never met and likely never will.  At least once per week, I receive an encouraging e-mail from a column reader somewhere across our nation and their kind words give me strength during hard times.  I feel I am letting them down by saying goodbye, but the time has come.  One of my most memorable contacts came in 2007 from a special forces serviceman who electronically asked, “Did you know you have a huge fan club in Camp Anaconda, Iraq?”  Apparently, I had a constituent serving in the Middle East who formed a group which met weekly to cuss and discuss my latest column.

If it seems my writings are redundant, it is because the battle is redundant.  Today’s forces hell-bent on destroying our republic are the same as those from 2006 and whether the enemy rallies under the banner of liberalism, progressivism, socialism, communism, or collectivism matters not. The ruling class yearns to control the unwashed whether by force—gun confiscation disguised as common-sense regulation; coercion—free stuff; or disinformation—controlling the climate through taxation.  Leftists are evil.

America truly is the greatest nation in world history, and she was created by Divine providence. Neither before, nor after our founding has a nation done more to relieve human suffering than has our republic.  We are the tool God uses to spread goodness worldwide and I pray He continues to bless America.
