Obituary: Jeff Ashworth

Jeff Ashworth

Jeff Ashworth passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 14th, doing what he loved the most with whom he loved the most, playing golf with his wife.

Jeffrey Greaves Ashworth was born January 1st, 1955, in Conrad, Montana to Adam and Jan Ashworth, the fourth of six children. He attended grade schools in Conrad and Great Falls. The family moved to Billings where Jeff attended Will James Junior High and Billings West High, graduating in 1973. He met the love of his life, LaVon Wichers in February 1975 and they were married six months later. They said it wouldn’t last. They had two daughters, Shanon and Melissa. Jeff spent his career working for Henry’s Safety Supply, which later became DPX Safety Master. He retired in 2017 after 32-1/2 years in sales and training, something he loved to do.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 44 years, LaVon; children Shanon Lopez (Marcos) and Melissa Cornelius (Billy); grandchildren  Brenden, Gabe, Rueben, Aylah, and Braelynn; brothers Rick (Linda) of Helena, MT, Dan of Idaho Falls, ID, Pat (Renee) of Cheyenne, WY, and sister Lesley (Daniel) Gonzalez of Eastvale, CA; sisters-in-law, Jane (Bob) of Billings, Cindy Delong (Don) of Alton, IA, and Kathy Forstrom of Esterville, IA, and mother-in-law, Hermina Wichers of Alton, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He loved them all dearly; and many friends and extended family. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents and brother Kelly.

Jeff always had a smile on his face and a sarcastic comment. His nieces and nephews were always nervous to bring their boy or girl friends over to meet him, just because of what he might say. Jeff was a member of Pryor Creek Golf Course, Harvest Church, and was a blood donor for 50 years. He also enjoyed golf, softball, bowling, and doing crosswords and Sudoku in ink. Jeff, you have left a hole in our hearts. One and a half for Jeff!

A memorial service will be held at Harvest Church on Tuesday, July 21 at 11:11 am.  Interment will take place at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage you to make a blood donation or a donation to 1st Tee.
