Yellowstone Dig it Days is just around the corner. This one-day event is constructive, family wholesome and educational, promoting knowledge and safety with equipment operation that digs in the ground. Families will learn about what it takes to stay safe when digging. The event is set to take place on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 10 am – 4pm off the Johnson Lane I-90 Exit Interchange. read more

DEQ tests Worden water; show lower levels of Nitrates

While the Worden Ballantine Yellowstone County Water and Sewer District (WBYC) is keeping their nitrate alert in effect for the time being pending additional test results from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), they have confirmed the nitrate levels in the water have returned below the danger level of 10 mg/L, testing at 7.8 mg/L which is lower even than the testing done last year. read more

Obituary: Montao Cruz Noyola

Montao Cruz Noyola was born on February 25, 1997 in Billings, Mt. He spent half his childhood in Montana and moved to California in 2011 to live with his father. He graduated from East High in 2015 where he met Andrea, and they become high school sweethearts.

Conviction in Fenner murder after full confession in 2017

On the night of November 15th, 1998, Laurel police responded to The Movie Store on Main Street in Laurel to what was originally reported to be a shooting. When they arrived on scene, police found three people standing outside of the store attempting to help a young woman bleeding heavily from the neck. The victim was taken by HELP Flight to St. Vincent in Billings but died in surgery from her injuries, determined to be slash wounds to her throat, shortly after. She was identified as 18-year-old Miranda Fenner. Over the next fourteen years, investigators interviewed hundreds of people but were unable to identify any suspects and the case went cold even after making national headlines. read more

Linda Anne (Young) Krause, age 63, went to be with our father and creator early in the morning on July 10th. Born on January 14th, 1956 to Carl Young and Catherine Olson (Young) in Belt, MT. Linda had worked as a meat packer for some time. read more

Dear Editor,

The Gazette has printed several opinions chastising our county commissioners for daring to begin conversations about the Hub, the Crisis Center, and the Montana Rescue Mission. This prompts the question, “What do we expect of our elected officials?” Simply answered, “We, the voting taxpaying resident citizens, expect our elected officials to get the best value using the limited resources available to them.” read more

Little after 4 AM in early July and am sitting on the front deck of my home looking at the sky starting to brighten in the east. Soon brilliant, pastel colors spread across the sky placing a shiny sheen on a field of Bill Hein’s ripening barley across the county road. A robin sings nearby as little birds peep, peep, peep from bushes. The dim light is turning showing thin clouds and the outline of cliffs along the Yellowstone River over by Bruce and Anne Kania’s. A gentle breeze caresses my side. In Jeanette’s front garden flowers are beginning to open. In the distance at Tanner Vukasin’s trailer a Great Horned Owl can be heard asking the usual question of ‘WHOOO?’. read more
