Sugar beets yield devastating losses

This pile of Sugar beets were deemed unusable due to weather conditions as of the time this picture was taken in Huntley on December 3rd. Summer hail storms and a short harvest season mixed with cold weather spurts caused hard conditions to harvest the beets out of the ground with many of the beets still left in the ground, However, Western Sugar Cooperative harvested some of the beets in the middle of this beet dump pile but left the rest to rot. As of December 11, the beets continue to sit in a pile at the Huntley beet dump.

Rodeo performer and fantastic western artist Elyssa Leininger woke up Sunday morning to terrible news, her beloved horse Missile had been stolen, along with a saddle and tack from her trailer, from the pasture behind their home on King Avenue East. A horse-napper had opened the pasture gate, broken into the horse trailer, saddled up Missile, and led him off the property past the Leininger family’s house before jumping onto the horse’s back and riding him down Washington Street and across a couple of fields.

Things are definitely different in California

Dear Editor,

Recently I was contacted by the State Bar of California. I was asked to update my personal information and my present contact information. I noticed that there were five choices that I had to describe my sex. Thank God two of the choices were still male and female. One choice I believe was “two spirits” ? Then I remembered I was dealing with a governmental organization in the state of California.

Mother, son duo headed to prison

After a 27-year-old woman was shot on S. 29th St. on the South Side of Billings last week and taken to the hospital with “non-life threatening injuries”, Billings Police responded to the scene where witnesses said a man fired shots from inside a Mercedes at a green truck. The victim identified Marlin Parker, who police have said is 24 years old but court documents say he is 34, as the shooter and said that she had gotten a ride with the man in the truck when the Mercedes, driven by Parker, cut them off and fired. Her driver drove away and Parker then allegedly grabbed her through the window and demanded $200 she owed him before she was shot. read more
