I believe hunters in Montana know that it is illegal to use an aircraft to hunt game animals. Actually it is also illegal to use an aircraft to locate such animals. read more

Beginning June 1, Montana can move into Phase Two of Governor Steve Bullock’s Reopening of businesses and activities after having been shutdown for over ten weeks. Gov. Bullock announced the parameters of the next phase of allowable activity of Montana citizens on Tuesday, which includes lifting the travel ban. read more

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, & above all, Sister passed away quietly on May 11, 2020 at the Billings Clinic Hospital. Earlene was born in Sheridan, WY on April 9, 1932 to Therone and Dorothy Bartlett. She graduated from Billings Senior High on May 31, 1950. Earlene served as the County Welfare Director of Custer, Powder River and Garfield counties from 1977 to 1982. read more

Surrounded by his loving family, Daniel Kautz joined his son Kurt “Cubby” Kautz in heaven on April 21st, 2020. Dan was born August 12th1954 to Margaret (Alles) and James Kautz joining his sisters Bonnie, Susan, and brother Jim. The family resided in Worden, MT. Dad was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden, MT. Dan attended and graduated from Huntley Project schools. read more

Worden, MT, Tom E. Martin, 96, died May 11, 2020. The son of George and Lena Martin, Tom was born June 16, 1923, in Lewistown, MT. He attended Fergus County Schools. Tom was at Pearl Harbor, on that fateful day in 1941. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. He was assigned to the Naval Armed Guard aboard the Merchant Marine ship, USS Goode. In 1947, he met, Pauline Fuerstenau, and they spent the rest of their lives together. From this union came a son and four daughters. read more

BILLINGS — The City of Billings has renewed its contract to publish its official legal advertising notices in the Yellowstone County News for another year. This is the 3rd Extension that the City of Billings and Yellowstone County News have entered into this agreement. read more

As was their option, with the issuance of a decision from Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) last July, that their plan had deficiencies, Riverside Contracting has submitted a response to the DEQ’s Deficiency Notice dated July 25, 2019. The company has proposed the development of a gravel mine near Shepherd, to which there was broad community objection last spring. read more

On April 20, 2020, Lockwood School Superintendent Tobin Novasio announced that Lockwood would continue with distance learning for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. All school-related activities and events on campus will still be cancelled through the month of July. read more

As political campaigns are starting to peak, one long-time Billings doctor and new political candidate did not get the party memo in making sure his campaign is firing on all cylinders at the time that absentee ballots go out in the mail. Dr. Scott Price told the Yellowstone County News by phone on Monday that even though he’s a candidate for the Montana Legislature, another call to serve his country and fellow man was answered when the “call for healthcare providers” went out to the masses in preparation for the COVID-19 outbreak. read more
