Superintendent Greg Upham reinstated the mask mandate in Billings School District 2 on August 22, meaning students, staff, and visitors will need to wear a mask while in the school buildings. The mandate came after being notified of a covid-19 outbreak at Skyview High School involving one of the school’s teams. While this is not the only reason Mr. Upham made this call, it is one of the main reasons. read more

Neil and his twin sister Nancy were born in Billings, November 4, 1952 to Bernard and Betty Lou (Bullett) Oltrogge. He was raised in Ballantine, Montana, and attended Huntley Project Schools. Upon graduation Neil worked several construction jobs before starting work for Burlington Northern Railroad, working as a conductor out of Forsyth, MT. In 1980 he was joined in marriage to Teresa Flamm. This union was blessed with four children: Jessica (Robert Wilhelm), Elizabeth (Troy Vanderlinde), Rebecca (Matt Wilson), and Nathan. They made their home and raised their family in Forsyth. Their union later ended in divorce. Upon retirement Neil returned to the family home in Ballantine to live out the remainder of his life. Neil was the proud grandfather of Dante and Victor, the very loved Uncle Ned to his beloved nieces and nephews, and Lucky Ned Pepper to his brother Doug (Rita). Neil was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy, and brothers Timothy and Patrick and his loving cousin, Jon Ditzel. A family gathering will be held on a later date

During the County Commissioners’ discussion meeting on Thursday an issue arose that wasn’t on the agenda. With a cadre of Metra Park leadership in attendance, Commissioner John Ostlund explained that they were there to clear up rumors claiming that the commissioners were going to “privatize” the management of Metra Park. He said that the rumors, which were false, were contributing to low morale at Metra Park. read more

Alvin Rebsom passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer on August 3, 2021 at the age of 69. He was known as Dad, Big Al, Albert, or Papa to his loving family. He was surrounded by all of them as Heaven gained a kind and beautiful soul that day. Al would do anything for anybody. He loved helping his family and many, many friends. Al was born in Dickinson, ND, to Edward and Katherine Rebsom. Al grew up on a farm southeast of Manning, ND with his three sisters and three brothers.
Al is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Carrie (John) Rigney, grandson Keith (Samantha) Rigney, and granddaughter Alyssia (Daquiri) Wright; son Alan (Pam) Rebsom, granddaughter Alex Rebsom, and great granddaughter Triniti Rebsom. Al also had many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. read more
