MetraPark Board Considers Doing Search for Manager

by Evelyn Pyburn

During the County Commissioners’ board meeting on Tuesday, MetraPark’s interim manager, Tim Goodridge addressed the commissioners about his tenure as the interim manager, the achievements made and that in their search for a permanent manager of MetraPark, he should be that manager.

Later in the day at a meeting of the MetraPark Advisory Board, the issue was discussed at much greater length, after a presentation from Venue Solutions Group (VSG) about their proposal to conduct a nationwide search for a manager on behalf of the county, and the steps they would pursue in helping MetraPark to develop policies and procedures and train staff. Venue Solutions Group was selected by county commissioners as the winning response to their request for proposal for a professional consulting firm to provide those services.

Why do a search, spending between $25,000 and $50,000, questioned board member Brian Brown, when they already have someone in place, who from all accounts appears to be doing a good job, referring to Tim Goodridge. Despite the uncertainty of the past year regarding the issue of privatization, Goodridge “had a great year,” said Brown. “Now we are ready to really put on the gas.”
