County Officials Sworn into Office

by Evelyn Pyburn

On Tuesday, District Court Judge Ashley Harada swore in newly elected and re-elected county officials during a ceremony in the County Commissioners’ office.

Republican Mark Morse was sworn in as County Commissioner, the only newly elected county official. The rest of the county officials were re-elected to new terms – in most cases unchallenged Republican candidates.

Morse defeated incumbent Republican County Commissioner Denis Pitman. At the close of the weekly County Commissioner meeting on Tuesday, Pitman expressed his appreciation for being able to serve as county commissioner. He said, “It has been an honor and a privilege serving as county commissioner.  I think we have done a lot of good things over the last six years, and I wish nothing but the best for the people of Yellowstone County.”

Also taking the oath of office were Sheriff Mike Linder, County Attorney Scott Twito, Treasurer Sherry Long, Justices of the Peace of the Jeanne Walker and David Carter.
