Obituary: Catherine Johnson

Catherine Johnson

Catherine Ann Johnson, 87 of Billings, died October 10, 2022.  Her soul was still beautiful, but her body was tired. Her legacy of love was being a wife, mother and grandmother.  Catherine was born on January 31, 1935, in Billings, Mt., to Elsie Slovarp and Earl McLorinan.

She is survived by the love of her life, husband Carl of 70 years; a son Steve Johnson (Lisa); three grandchildren, Jim Shaules (Aubourn), Kayla Johnson (Russell) and Tanner Johnson (Alyssa). She also had four great-grandchildren whom she adored: Josh, Emery, Brody and Lane, whom she briefly got to hold when he was two days old. She also has three sisters. She was predeceased by both parents, grandparents, her beloved daughter Joanne Johnson and grandson Michael.

Catherine loved to paint, grow flowers and garden; she loved her senior group in Shepherd and her book club girls. She loved to cook, with angel food cake, pizza and cinnamon rolls her specialties. She always cooked for corn harvest, three meals a day plus cookies at 3:00 pm. She spent many years with Carl playing pinochle with Bill and Bunny, their close friends. When she smiled, her eyes twinkled and she was happiest when her whole family got together for birthdays and Easter. Her family was her life.

A limb has fallen from our family tree. She will be deeply missed.

If one so desires, donations to the Riverstone Hospice House would be lovely.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  To leave condolences, visit Catherine’s Tribute Page at www.heightsfamilyfuneralhome.com.
