Obituary: Linda Lee Meredith

Linda Lee Meredith passed away unexpectedly on August 25, 2022.  She was born in Chico, California, on April 3, 1956, to Don and Patricia Witke.  At a young age she moved with her family to the Yakima Valley of Washington State.

Linda and her four siblings were raised riding horses.  She graduated from Selah High School in 1974 and served as Miss Rodeo Washington from 1974-75.  Her next adventure took her on a road trip to Yellowstone Park where she got a job and met her friend of 45 years, Linda Howard.   She moved to Bozeman where she got a job with Farmers’ Home Administration and ended up meeting Monte–met in May, engaged in June, married on July 14, 1979.  It was the real deal.  They moved to the family ranch north of Custer in 1981.  Linda loved the ranch. She loved her horses, dogs and pretty much any kind of animal they had.  Most of all, she loved her family.

She helped with ranch work and raised her kids with love, teaching them respect and responsibility.  She worked at a few “real” jobs over the years … the sugar beet company, DNRC, Yellowstone Valley News, and she had her own photography business.  She loved taking pictures of everyone and everything.

Linda seldom missed any of her kids’ sports events.  She was front and center at the basketball games with her camera.  She even drove half way across the country to take them to camps.

Her world was rocked when she lost Monte to brain cancer.  They are surely having a grand reunion among the angels.

Linda is survived by her children: Tonya Clemmer (Derrick), Brynn Bixby (KR), Boe Meredith (Satabra), Lacey Meredith (Justin), and Pyper Meredith.  Her grandchildren: Davon, Shyan, Dakota, Sean, Blake, Julia, Tag, Zane, Cleota, Jobi, and great grandson, Greyson.  Her siblings are Bard, Jamina, Chad and Tami.  Two more special girls to Linda are Amy and Leah.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Monte, her mother Patricia Witke, and her father, Don Witke.

A celebration of life for Linda will be held at the Custer High School Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 6, at 5:00 PM.  A reception will immediately follow at the Custer Park.  If you wish, in lieu of flowers, you can donate to Monte Meredith Memorial Foundation, 7385 Pineview Road, Custer, MT 59024, your local volunteer fire department, or charity of your choice.
