Obituary: Glenda Helen Lahn

Glenda Helen Lahn

Glenda Helen Lahn passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the age of 81. She was born on June 8, 1939, in Napa, California, to Art and Pearl lzer. She shared a birthday with her dad. Her family later settled in Oregon. She went to grade school in Barton, Oregon, and high school in Estacada, Oregon.

Glenda was the apple of her father’s eye. He named a tugboat after her when she was young. She liked to tease her younger brother, Bud, about that. Bud remembers her riding horses after school and being a confirmed animal lover after that. He also remembered the time she took him to a Brownie meeting and then he wanted to join Brownies.

After school Glenda moved to Alaska where she met her future husband Kenneth Lahn. Kenneth worked construction so they lived in various places before settling in Ballantine, Montana. They had five children: Fred, Barbara, Marie, Ken, and Tracey.

After parting ways, Glenda became a single mother who held a few different jobs including bartending, milking cows, working in a brake repair shop, and finally a mining company in Dyer, Nevada. When Glenda retired, she returned home to Ballantine.

Glenda loved to garden and was very mechanically inclined. She liked to work on her own vehicles when she could. She loved to camp and fish. She was an accomplished knitter.

She is survived by her son Fred and daughters Barbara and Marie. She is also survived by her brother, Bud Izer. She has numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Glenda was preceded in death by her children Ken and Tracey.

Glenda did not want a funeral. She wanted to be cremated and for her ashes to be taken to Sandy Oregon to be scattered by her mother’s and father’s gravesites. She wanted friends and family to celebrate her life in any way that they want and to remember the good times. Donations can be made to the Worden Volunteer Fire Department.
