Obituary: Marianne Martinson

Marianne Martinson in her younger years

Marianne Martinson

On April 10, 2020, our loving mother, Marianne Martinson, passed away.  Mom was born on November 9, 1931 in Fleyh, a small mountain village in the Ore Mountains of the Czech Republic. As the baby of the family, she tormented her brothers Franz and Karl and was spoiled by her parents Marie and Lorenz Fleischer.  Many of her fondest memories were of growing up in the mountains and blazing trails on the skis handcrafted by her father.  After surviving the hardships of WWII and losing everything they owned, the family moved to Bamberg, West Germany to begin a new life.  At 17, and on her own, mom moved to Munich, “the city with heart,” and her “favorite place on earth.”

In 1969 Mom began another adventure by moving to Ballantine, MT where she raised her family; working hard all her life to make sure everyone was taken care of.  She had many talents that included, knitting, crocheting, birding and gardening. She was always our biggest fan and will be remembered for being VERY enthusiastic at sporting events and for her tears when she listened to her granddaughter sing.  Mom was proud of her family, her work at Huntley Project Schools, and being a volunteer at St. Vincent Healthcare. She always loved us unconditionally.

Missing her are her children, Linda Adams (Gary), Rob Martinson (Shirley), Brenda Crever (Phil), Brian Martinson (Cristi), grandchildren, Jance, Elicia, Kayla, Haley, Jake, Dustin, Trista, Preston and great grandchildren, Grayson and Brylee.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to St. Vincent Foundation Volunteer Services would be greatly appreciated.
