Leo Eugene Balzer, 87, formerly of Worden passed away in Billings on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Viewing will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapels Downtown. Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine, MT. A gathering of family and friends will be held after the graveside service at the Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden. Condolences may be left for Leo’s family at www.smithfuneralchapels.com.
Leo was born to Jacob and Mary (Knaub) Balzer on November 9, 1932 in Worden, where he was raised. He graduated from Huntly Project High School.
Leo served in the Army from April 9, 1954 to March 24, 1956. After he was discharged from the military Leo came home and bought a farm in Treasure County with his late brother, Armand. They farmed until his retirement in 2015.
Leo is survived by his wife, Penelope “Susie” Balzar; stepchildren, William (Diana) Harman, David (Pam) Harman, Matthew (Tanna) Harman, Juanita (Damon) Harman-Roach; nephew, Jason Balzer; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
