Santy takes charge of Red Devils once more

After the untimely resignation of Guy Croy as Head Coach of the Huntley Project Red Devils football team just before the start of football camps, the school was left in the unenviable situation of replacing a coach with a winning record in an unbelievably short amount of time. Croy and school officials both cited “philosophical differences” between Croy and the administration as the reason for his resignation. To fill this role, Huntley Project has gone to their Ol’ Reliable, Jay Santy.

In the past, Santy operated as assistant coach under three different head coaches including Jim Stanton who coached the Red Devils to a state title back in ’98. Santy has worn a multitude of different hats in his time in athletics at Huntley Project, including being the head coach for boys’ basketball for seven years, an assistant boys’ basketball coach, assistant track and field coach, and Athletic Director for a time. For the past two years, Santy has been working as the head coach for the girls’ basketball team.

Santy has held the position of head football coach before. During that time, he led Huntley Project to 24 straight wins and back to back Class-B championships in 2008 and 2009. From these years of experience, it seems hopeful that Santy will be able to work wonders even with the short amount of time he has been handed.
