A new downtown bodega grocery store is preparing for its grand opening. With an opening tentatively set for June 10th, Lil Market is set to become a great spot to stop downtown for food and other essentials. Larry Mathew, owner of Mr. Thrifty, has rented a spot at 207 N Broadway next to Skypoint in the Valley Federal Credit Union building with the ambition of creating a local grocery store in the style of the bodegas that you would find in larger cities. Bill Miller, a manager at Mr. Thrifty who will also be working at Lil Market, says that as they prepare to open, they are focusing on basic food and essentials, but they are extremely open to suggestions from downtown residents and anyone who works in the area for what they would like to see carried in the bodega. Lil Market currently plans on being open Monday – Friday from 7am – 7pm, with shortened hours on Saturday before closing for Sunday.
