County Commissioners say ‘YES’ to YVEC at Shiloh Rd

Yellowstone County Commissioners approved, last week, a zoning reqsuest that will allow Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative to build an electrical substation in a residential area at the corner of Shiloh Road and Central Avenue just outside the city limits of Billings.

The property involves two acres which is zoned Residential Multi-family.

County Commissioners acted upon a recommendation for approval from the Zoning Board.

The company, headquartered in Huntley, agreed to meet the conditions of the approval and to meet the minimum standards set forth by the City of Billings, even though it is not in the city limits. Among those conditions were requirements for landscaping and anti-graffiti surfaces.

The substation is expected to increase the reliability of service from YVEC and would tie into the existing line to serve the city and county.
