More than the tip of the iceberg, legally speaking

Well, folks, another week, another good announcement coming. This is now three weeks of good announcements.  Don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll find something positive and exciting to announce to the masses next week as well (unless Carl Wolf is getting tired of all the good news).

Even though we announced two months ago that we doubled the amount of newspapers circulating, some good results have come from it.  First, new advertisers have come!  Secondly, more readers are being exposed to our local weekly fiscal newspaper than before.  Third, we are getting even a bigger footprint and presence in Yellowstone County in becoming more of the county newspaper where more entities are using our service and publication to get their info out to the masses.

I’m happy to announce that Yellowstone County News has renewed our legal advertising contract with the City of Billings again for another year!

This is great news for a number of reasons.  We are now establishing ourselves as the weekly newspaper of choice in Yellowstone County for more of our readers whether it is for legal advertising, display ads or just for the local news we publish.

I personally think our newspaper is gaining even more traction with new law firms, storage unit entities, engineering firms and possibly district judges as we have a bigger coverage area due to the amount of newspapers we print each week.

For example, the Billings Times (another legal publication) reported that they had 648 subscriptions in their last report in July 2018. Our newspaper reported that we had 1,688 subscriptions being distributed.  Two months ago, we announced that we doubled our circulation in Yellowstone County so I think the additional coverage for our newspaper has given us an even better boost to our coverage in the area for all legal advertising.

I hope and am confident that local district court judges and law firms see the difference in our value and will continue to use our publication as we will continue to grow in this area and hopefully provide a better service and product each week.

In fact, I just happen to see that we had over two pages of legal ads in our newspaper last week as the Billings Times had about 1 ¾ pages of legal ads.  I wasn’t sure if we were printing more legal ads or not but I’m pleased in the direction our staff is going in providing a good product and service.

I invite any other entity to give us an opportunity to earn your business in probate, name changes, summons for publications, foreclosure auctions, public sales, meeting notices and any other legal advertising need you have.

It is my hope that our newspaper can become more of your newspaper for local news and information while we continue to grow it even more.  We are thankful and grateful for all those who have supported our newspaper and continue to use us as your local source.  And finally, thank you once again to the City of Billings and the Billings City Council for taking a chance on us three years ago in becoming your publication of record.

We are poised to currently look to the future for more opportunities as we look back to the past where we started four ½ years ago.

Until then, see you in the paper.
