Dear Editor,
Without a doubt Shepherd schools are in desperate need of repair and upgrade. The Shepherd school bonds are in need of a “Yes” _vote from our community. A “Yes” _vote means we care about our school and our community. “Yes” _means that we care about education. “Yes” _means we care about our future generations. “Yes” _means we care about safety. Our school, our kids, our school staff, and our community needs your “Yes” _vote.
It has been said that there is no common sense being put into this bond issue. That is far from the truth. Our school administrators, our school staff, and our elected school board have been working on these issues since the last school bond failed and before. These people have been put in place to educate and facilitate the education of our youth. It is time for our community to get behind these people and vote “Yes”. They have hired and kept a close eye on an architectural firm to bring us (our community) a plan to move our school forward. This plan is a conservative plan brought forth from a team of talented individuals. There are people that want far more. There are people that want far less. The plan that we are asking for a “Yes” _vote on is the plan that will move our school and our community in a positive way. There are no hidden gyms in the plan. A lunch room with high ceilings makes sense (try putting 300+ kids in a space with 10’ _ceilings). A lunch room that can also be used for practice space even makes more sense! A cardio and weight room for our athletes and students to become stronger and more fit makes sense. A cardio and weight room open to our community makes even better space! I could go on and on about this plan and what it has to offer for our community and kids.
Please come to the Shepherd Community Meeting to hear the facts on March 20th at 6:30pm in the High School multi-purpose room (an open space now to serve lunch and have practices…..hopefully a place to have four more classrooms in the future). You will also find all the facts, the plans, and a tax calculator to determine your individual tax liabilities.
This bond will never be easier or cheaper than it is today! We have the right people in place, we have the right plan, all we need is a “Yes” vote. Please don’t think if you vote “No” to this great plan that your taxes won’t go up, because THEY WILL. Please do the research to get the facts. If you want to make Shepherd a stronger, better educated, safer, and prosperous community, vote “Yes”! We must invest in our future!!
