Senior Center Concerns are Ongoing

Dear Editor,

Senior Center Concerns are Ongoing:

The seniors are still waiting to be able to have their dances, garage sales and other events at the Community and Senior Center at 360 N 23rd Street. I realize the mayor and the city administrator have city business to attend to, but how many times do we seniors have to take the back burner? There are those of us who still do not feel welcomed under the present situation of building management.

The city is looking at more space for city offices in maybe a bigger building. I’ve even heard they may want to build a new building. I do hope the city makes plans to move the Parks and Recreation out of their present placement in the building that was built and meant to be a Community and Senior Center. The seniors are continuing to age and some, even die, yet we are denied those events we’ve enjoyed at the senior center in the past. How long will it take city officials to make the Community and Senior Center welcoming and enjoyed by seniors again?
