Correct the anti-legion tirade presented by Carl Wolf

Dear Editor,

We, the leaders of American Legion Custer Post 111, feel we have a responsibility to provide the actual sequence of events and correct the anti-legion tirade presented by Carl Wolf in his December 14, 2018 “The Outdoors” column and relate more properly how the American Legion Custer Post 111 reached its decision to close its doors.

  1. Every member of this post received a postcard announcement of every post meeting that specifies both the location and meeting times.
  2. When significate actions requiring further communication with the members presents itself, a letter is sent to each member to provide both the back ground and current situation details for the proposed action.
  3. The letter contains the actions required by the members and sets forth both the meeting time and place to consider and obtain member concerns in relation to the proposed action.
  4. After the proposed action meeting, a time, and place is established to vote by those members attending on the proposed activity.
  5. These rules follow the specified requirements of Legion Post operations. They were followed explicitly in the proposed decision to close the Custer 111 Post.
  6. Everyone, but a couple individuals approved the closing of Custer 111 due to having no one to assume or carry on the leadership role or invest the time needed.
  7. This is the official and accurate statement of the procedure followed.

Thank you for the opportunity to set the record straight

Commander – Mack Delcamp (Worden)
