Jon Tester is no fool. It’s rumored that he asked that no national Democratic figures come to Montana to campaign for him in 2018.
From my personal experience, most Montana Democrats have one thing in common. Their families are Democrats, their grandparents were Democrats; therefore, “I’m a Democrat.” They believe FDR helped their families through hard times, and the Democrats will keep on doing it. They haven’t thought about what the Democrats’ current “platform” is – what a Democrat stands for.
The Democrat, ex -President Obama, wasn’t much help. In 2009 in Turkey, he stated to the world that “while we (the United States) have a large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens bound by ideals and a set of values.” These (likely Democratic Party) values/morals were never defined.
Much of the Eastern Democratic Progressives (see Soros) pushed socialism in their recent campaigns. I don’t think Montanans think much of socialism. And I believe that Senator Tester did not want his Montana Democratic minions to think at all about where their national Democratic party might be headed. They might have voted for Montana rather than Tester.
